Configuring Outlook Express for Windows
To setup Outlook Express to send and receive mail through Princetown Cable, double-click the
Outlook Express icon on your computer. If this is the first time you have opened Outlook
Express it will start the Setup Wizard. Otherwise, click on the Tools menu, then
select Accounts. This will open the Internet Accounts window. On the right
side of the resulting window, click on the Add button then select Mail.
This starts the Wizard.
The Wizard will start asking you to fill in your email settings:
- In the Display Name box type in your name, then click Next.
- Click on the dot in front of I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to use.
- In the E-mail address box type in your Princetown Cable e-mail address.
- Click Next.
- My incoming mail server is a POP3 server
- In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server box type in pop.princetowncable.com
- In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box type in mail.princetowncable.com
- Click Next.
- In the Account name box type in your username.
- In the Password box type in your password.
- Click Next, then click Finish.
You will now be looking at the Internet Accounts accounts window again. Click on
the Mail tab. Under Accounts you will see mail.princetowncable.com.
Click on mail.princetowncable.com once to highlight it, then click the
Set as Default button. Then click the Close button.
Outlook Express is now configured to send and receive your Princetown Cable email.
If you were using a dial-up connection before, you may still be configured to
retrieve email from your old account. To stop checking that account for email,
click on the Tools menu, then click on Accounts. Click on the Mail tab. You
will see the mail.princetowncable.com account that you created above. If you see another
account listed, click on it than click on Properties. At the bottom of the General
tab you will see a check-box labelled Include this account... - uncheck
the check-box the click OK. Do this for any accounts listed you no longer use,
then click Close when done.
